Return premiums

Household Insurance (Owner Occupier) Cancellation

If you decide that for any reason, this Policy does not meet your insurance needs then please return it to Your agent within 14 day of purchase or the day on which You receive Your policy documentation, whichever is the later. On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, we will then refund your premium in full. If you wish to cancel Your policy after 14 days, you will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium. Subject to the terms and conditions outlined by your issuing agent.

 

Property Let Insurance Cancellation

If you decide that for any reason, this Policy does not meet your insurance needs then please return it to Your agent within 14 day of purchase or the day on which You receive Your policy documentation, whichever is the later. On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, we will then refund your premium in full. If you wish to cancel Your policy after 14 days, you will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium. Subject to the terms and conditions outlined by your issuing agent.

 

Key Protection Insurance Cancellation

If you decide that for any reason, this policy does not suit your insurance needs then please return it to your issuing agent within 14 days of issue.  On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, we will then refund your premium in full.  Thereafter you may cancel the insurance cover at any time by informing your broker however no refund of premium will be payable.

 

Rent Guarantee Legal Expenses Policy Cancellation

If you decide that for any reason, this Policy does not meet your insurance needs then please return it to Your agent within 14 day of purchase or the day on which You receive Your policy documentation, whichever is the later. On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, we will then refund your premium in full. If you wish to cancel Your policy after 14 days, you will be entitled to a pro-rata return of premium. Subject to the terms and conditions outlined by your issuing agent.

 

Car Excess Protection Insurance Cancellation

You have the right to cancel this Insurance without liability for the premium within 14 days of the date upon which You receive your certificate of Insurance provided you have not made a claim. Written notice of cancellation must be given to the insurance broker or agent at the address at which they conducted business with You or to the Insurer in writing. If notice of cancellation is not given within the 14 day period then You will be responsible for payment of the premium. If you give due notice of cancellation, cover under this insurance will cease from the date of delivery or posting of the notice of cancellation.

 

Car Hire Excess Insurance Cancellation

If you decide that for any reason, this policy does not meet your insurance needs then please return it to us or your agent within 14 days from the day of purchase or the day on which you receive your policy documentation, whichever is the later. On the condition that no claims have been made or are pending, we will then refund your premium in full.  Thereafter you may cancel the insurance cover at any time by informing us or your agent however no refund of premium will be payable.

14 day cooling off period

This agreement between you and us for the insurance mediation services that we provide to you in respect of your insurance requirements.  Once you have entered into the mediation contract with us, you are entitled to a ‘cooling off’’ period during which you may decide whether to proceed with the purchase of the mediation contract. The duration of this cancellation period is 14 days and commences from either

  • The day of purchase

  • The day you receive your policy documentation

Please return all documentation to us or your agent with confirmation that you wish to ‘cancel’ your policy.

 

Cancellation Rights

The insurer shall not be bound to accept renewal of any insurance and may at any time cancel any insurance document by giving 14 days notice inn writing where there is a valid reason for doing so. A cancellation letter will be sent to you at your last known address. Valid reason may include but are not limited to:

  1. Where we reasonably suspect fraud

  2. Non-payment or premium

  3. Threatening and abusive behaviour

  4. Non-compliance with policy terms and conditions

  5. You have not taken reasonable care to provide accurate and complete answers to the questions your agent asked.

If we cancel the policy and/or any additional covers you will receive a refund of any premiums you have paid for the cancelled cover, less a proportionate deduction for the time we have provided cover.

Where our investigations provide evidence of fraud or misrepresentation, we may cancel the policy immediately and backdate the cancellation to the date of the fraud or the date when you provided us with incomplete or inaccurate information. This may result in your policy being cancelled from the date you originally took it out and we will be entitled to keep the premium.

If your policy is cancelled because of fraud or misrepresentation, this may affect your eligibility for insurance with us, as well as other insurers, in the future.

Your duty to us (disclosure)

The information (material facts) provided by you on your application has been used to determine whether we will accept the risk and if so, at what terms and premium.

It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information to insurers when you take out a policy, throughout the life of your policy and when you renew the insurance. Failure to tell us any facts that are relevant to your insurance or any inaccuracies in information provided, could invalidate your insurance policy or part of it and may result in a claim not being paid.

It is important that you ensure that all statements you make on proposal forms, claims forms and other documents, are full and accurate. If a form is completed on your behalf, you should check that the answers shown to any questions are true and accurate. If you are unsure whether a fact is relevant, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Conditions

The information you provide forms the basis of this insurance contract and must always be complete and accurate. As a result, you must inform us as soon as possible of any changes to the information you provided. We will use the new information to revise your contract and if applicable, our premium, terms and conditions.

 

Data Protection

MIS Group “the data importer” will receive data from your insurance agent “the data exporter” and process data for Insurance Administration purposes only. All data will be held and processed in accordance with Directive 95/46/EC and GDPR rules.

 

MIS Underwriting Ltd complies with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018. MIS Underwriting Ltd is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We wish to be transparent on how we process your data and show you that we are accountable with the GDPR in relation to not only processing your data but ensuring you understand your rights as a client.  The data will be processed only in ways compatible with the purposes for which it was given and as outlined in our Privacy Notice. Claims

In the event of accident, loss or damage to the Home or property which might give rise to a claim, contact the claims line on 01 872 0179.

 

You can make any temporary repairs as soon as possible but keep the receipts and provide supporting documentation to include images as these may form part of Your claim. We must have the chance to inspect the damage before permanent repairs are carried out.

 

Travel Insurance

Health Notice

If you or any other person who is travelling has a Pre-existing Medical Condition, then You must declare that condition to UK General Insurance Ltd on 0818 220 096. If you have a close family member/relative who has a condition that could give rise to your cancelling/curtailing, then you must also contact UK General Insurance Limited.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions – UK General Insurance Limited – 0818 220 096

If you are aware that You or any person whose ill health would force You to cancel or cut short your trip, or have been admitted as an inpatient in the past twenty four months, or have suffered from or received any form of medical advice, treatment or medication for a

  1. Heart or Circulatory related condition (e.g. Hypertension, Angina, Stroke etc…)

  2. Lung or Breathing related condition other than well controlled, mild Asthma, suffered in isolation.

  3. Cancerous condition

Then you must contact the Medical Pre-screening company in order to arrange cover for that condition.  Failure to advise the medical pre-screening company of a Pre-existing Medical Condition may result in claims for those undisclosed conditions not being paid.

What to do in the Case of a Medical Emergency

Hospital Treatment Abroad

If you are admitted to hospital you must contact Global Response immediately.  If you do not, this could mean that the Underwriter will not provide cover, or the Underwriter will reduce the amount the underwriter will pay for medical expenses.

Treating Doctor/Hospital: For travel to the United Sates of America: The Underwriter will only pay for reasonable and necessary emergency medical treatment, surgical, hospital, ambulance and nursing fees and charges. This means the costs that are incurred for approved, eligible medical services or supplies up to 150% of the published medical rates for the same or similar treatment as payable by US Medicare.

The Underwriter reserves the right to limit payment to what the underwriter medical officer deems reasonable.

If the underwriters medical officer advises a date when it is feasible and practical to repatriate you, but you choose instead to remain abroad, the underwriters liability to pay any further costs under this section after that date will be limited to what the underwriter would have paid if your repatriation had taken place.

Note: You must retain all receipts for medical & additional costs incurred and you are responsible for any Policy Excess and this should be paid by you at the time of the treatment.

 

Renewals

It is out policy to ensure renewal terms are available to you in good time.  If information is requested by us for renewal you must provide it immediately as any delay could mean delay in offering renewal/and or us not being able to offer renewal terms at all.

 

We will NOT automatically renew your policies; you must renew policies online before due date.  If policies are not renewed online and we do not hear from you the policies will automatically expire at midnight on the date of the renewal and no further cover will be in place.

Policies can be renewed via our online portal, if you are experiencing any difficulties please contact one of our Underwriting team as soon as possible.

Investor Compensation Act 1998

We are members of the Investor compensation Scheme established under the Investor Compensation Act 1998. The legislation provides for the establishment of a Compensation Scheme and to payment, in certain circumstances, of compensation to clients of firms covered by the act. In the event that a right to compensation is established, the amount payable is the lesser of 90% of your loss which is recognised for being eligible for compensation or €20,000.

Law

This policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Ireland.

 

Complaints

It is our intention to provide you with a high level of customer service at all times. If you wish to make a complaint about our services, we have a formal complaints procedure. In the first instance you may contact us in writing or by phone.  Please address your complaint to:

Whilst we strive to protect your data, we cannot warrant the absolute security of any data that you transmit to us online. All passwords and usernames allocated to you must be kept secret and must not be disclosed to anyone without our prior written authorisation. You must not use any false identity in email or other network communication. You must not attempt or participate in the unauthorised entry or viewing of another user’s account or into another system. These are illegal acts and prosecution under criminal law may result.
